Unity Resolution

The Resolution

Whereas:
WE, as Democrats and citizens of York Township, are alarmed by the lack of action on behalf of the people of the State of Illinois by our state’s legislative and executive leaders; and

Whereas:
These leaders have pursued their personal agendas over the timely completion of the people’s business; and

Whereas:
The credibility and effectiveness of state Democratic leadership continues to deteriorate, harming all who are or should be associated with the Democratic Party, and all of our Democratic local and state legislative candidates; and

Whereas:
The people of the State of Illinois will have their business completed in a timely way by their empowerment of legislators and constitutional officers. If those legislators and officers ignore this mandate, the people will find and empower new leadership.

Be It Resolved:
That the York Township Democratic Organization, its precinct committeemen, its volunteers and other supporters, call on the state’s legislative and executive leadership to put aside their differences, to reset their agendas, and to creatively refocus their efforts on the completion of the people’s pressing business; and

Be It Further Resolved:
That the issues of fairly funded and fairly distributed quality education for all of Illinois' sons and daughters, of universal health care, of accessible and reasonably-priced mass transit, of a statewide safe and secure industrial infrastructure, among other issues, be immediately considered and successfully legislated.
