Home PageWhat's New:Photos from this year's St. Patrick's Day Dinner are up. We've elected new officers for 2008-2009. WelcomeWe are the official Democratic Party organization for York Township, Illinois. York Township includes Oakbrook Terrace; most of Lombard, Oak Brook, and Villa Park; much of Elmhurst; and small portions of Downers Grove, Hinsdale, and Westmont.
Think that no part of DuPage will ever elect a Democrat? Think again! In 2004, US Senate candidate Barack Obama swept York Township with a record-setting 63.6% of the vote. In 2006, Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan broke that record, earning 66.2% of the vote in York in a three-way race. Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White and Comptroller Dan Hynes, also running in three-way races, likewise won majorities of the vote in York. State Representative candidate Joe Vosicky and County Board candidates Richard Dunn and Dan Bailey also won the York portions of their districts, although they did not win their overall races. Out of nine townships in DuPage, York had the highest number of Democratic ballots per registered voter in the 2006 primary. We are on the verge of taking our government back from the Republicans, but we need your help to make it happen. |
